A fun little flash fiction about Greater Vancouver’s most civilized form of transit: the SeaBus. Wait for it. The twist is at the end.
SeaBus
Seats fill
Doors and windows lock
Waves churn, but
the swaying is only slight
The white noise of murmuring
Knee against mine
Elbows press
Heat beneath my blouse
I stand and slide off my coat
And realize I’m breathing
Air that’s been in
Other people’s lungs
Other people’s stomachs
Other people’s bums
THE END
